M. Shimizu (AIST) made files to use ICRU90 density effect parameters in egs5.
A patch was added to pegs5.f so that different densities are allowed in pegs5 input and epstar files on 18Jun2020.

How to utilize density effect parameters in ICRU90

                                                             18Jun2020 Y.Namito

Following two points are mentioned on graphite density in ICRU90 report.
1. Agreement for graphite required the use of the crystalline density (=2.265) when evaluating the density effect, as shown in Figure 4.2
2. The bulk density of graphite is seldom lager than about 1.8 gcm-3.
The polarization of the atoms in bulk graphite, which accounts for the density effect, are thus predominately due to the dielectric properties of the graphite structure.

In this condition, please do as follows to execute egs5 calculation while using ICRU90 density effect parameter.
a) Use icru90.inp as pegs5 input and epstar.dat as density effect parameter file.
b) Specify density with minus sign for 3rd variable of second line for each material in epstar file.
c) Delete egs5/pegs/pegs5.f. Copy pegs5_18jun2020 in this zip file to egs5/pegs/

When user uses ICRU90 data for graphite, density for density effect (in epstar file) and that for pegs5 input are specified as 2.265 and bulk density (for example 1.85).
But, pegs5 aborts when they differ by 1% or more. This is safety tool to avoid input mistake.
To avoid this abort, we input former with minus sign to inform pegs5 that this difference is intentional.
In this case pegs5 allows difference of 100% or less for that material.

The difference of current pegs5.f (in 160113 distribution) and modified pegs5.f is as follows:
4807a4808,4812
> ! 18Jun2020 Kludge by Y.Namito to use different rho in epstar&pegs5 input
> if (EPSTRH .lt. 0.0) then

> EPSTRH=ABS(EPSTRH)
> end if

(Fig.4.2)

c) egs5/pegs/pegs5.fを削除し、このzipファイルに含まれているpegs5_18jun2020.fをegs5/pegs5/にコピーする.

<解説>
