Application of EGS4 to Health Physics Research/ 保健物理分野の研究へのEGS4の応用 This paper introduces the history and overview of EGS systems and their potential applications in health physics research. An explanatory article submitted to the Journal of Health Physics has been published as a KEK Preprint.

What lies between calculation and measurement: X-ray and gamma ray detectors We have published an explanatory article submitted to the Journal of the Atomic and Molecular Society of Japan as a KEK Preprint. This article introduces and explains the various physical phenomena that occur between the information obtained from calculations and the actual “output values” obtained after energy absorption in detectors, focusing on representative X-ray and gamma-ray detectors. These are topics that are considered essential to understand when using calculation codes.

The concept of photon dose and effective dose In accordance with the revision of the Radiation Hazards Prevention Act, this document provides an explanation of the relationship between the dose concepts for photons (such as air kerma) listed in Appendix 4 and effective dose, as well as the evaluation of effective dose based on measured values.

Simplified calculation formula and effective dose conversion factors used in the shielding design of high-energy accelerator facilities We have clarified that the simplified evaluation based on ICRP-21 clearly evaluates the effective dose on the conservative side. (KEK Internal Report)
