Dear EGS4 Users,
Version 0.1.0 of Nova is now available at
Nova ships with XYZNova, a simple Cartesian-coordinate dose deposition application that mimics XYZDOS and is intended for running comparisons between Nova and EGS4. Versions 0.0.1 and 0.0.2 of Nova/XYZNova have been compiled and run without problems on Unix machines, Linux machines, PCs, and Macintoshes. No discrepancies have been found between Nova/XYZNova output and EGS4/XYZDOS output, but further testing is necessary.
Version 0.1.0 of Nova has the resources of the default EGS4 and also supports bremsstrahlung splitting, K-edge fluorescence, accurate bremsstrahlung and pair production angular distributions, and the RANMAR random number generator. Version 0.1.0 also systematizes the application programmer's interface to the Nova transport code library. See
http://www.nemc.org/nova/nova_api.htm
Version 0.2.0 of Nova should be available within six weeks. This version will: a) eliminate the last of the external variables from the implemen- tation (there may actually be a version 0.1.1 for this); b) include the PRESTA electron transport algorithm.
Please feel free to contact me with questions, suggestions, and comments.
Best regards,
Jim Satterthwaite
